The Vancouver Island Dodgeball League (VIDL) will usher you into a world of great dodgeball! Established in 2021, we are a non-profit, player-driven dodgeball league based in Nanaimo, BC.
Come touch our premium balls that have hit, grazed, and deflected into every body part of a player’s body. Bounce them. Hold 2. Hold 5! Catch 1! Catch 2! Pass them to a teammate! Throw (Han) solo or as a team (crazy concept)!

*Drop-in players will fill in for absent players or join teams that want subs.
**VIDL players may register as they identify themselves and play as such, regardless of physical sex characteristics or where they may be in any transition between genders. We believe that everyone is free to identify, label, and define themselves as the gender identity that makes the most sense to them.
As a co-ed league we endeavour to have a 3:1 Male:Womxn/NB ratio for our teams. To ensure we are close to this mix, we will reserve spots accordingly:
Male: 32 spots
Womxn/NB: 16 spots
Our draft league in Nanaimo will usher you into a world of great dodgeball with the most widely used ruleset in BC. Come touch our premium balls that have hit, grazed, and deflected into every body part of a player’s body since 2004. Bounce them. Hold 2. Hold 5! Catch 1! Catch 2! Pass them to a teammate!
Season 10 & 11’s draft leagues will expand on our growing dodgeball community with veteran players stepping up to captain the next wave of new players. Each season will have its own double-elimination playoffs as well as Legendary Pub Nights!
Once registered, you’ll be assessed (throw/catch in-game) on Exhibition Week so we can draft you onto a team that will thrive with your skillset (newbies are the best!).
Please let us know if you prefer to have a buddy stay with you when teams are being created.

What to expect in a typical league night:
- 4-5 teams per court (pending registration)
- 2 teams playing, and the other teams will provide 4 players to referee
- Play each team on your court 4-5 games where your wins are recorded and tallied
- Once your team has finished all its games, we’ll transition to our Big Ass Dodgeball Games with all (48+) players in the gym
- Pack up and head to the pub!

Drop-in Sessions
Newbies and vets alike, our drop-in sessions are the place to learn and grow in this sport! Come with friends, family, colleagues, classmates, and give ’em a taste of your balls! Play dodgeball in a chill and non-threatening environment with the most fun people Nanaimo has to offer.
Practice your throws, catches, blocks, and jazz-inspired dodges. Learn new throws from the vets, and learn the nuances of this fine game with some of the best in the city!
Register early before space sells out!
Drop-in Details:
- All players must be 19+ (please see League Policies)
- $10/player for 2 hours of all-you-can-dodge!
- Sign your waiver (19+ waiver / Under 19 waiver) before you play
